Plan / A BACKPACK TROOPS GUIDE
Build an editable travel itinerary around your bookings
Backpack Troops is a trip planner that brings your destinations, saved places and bookings into an editable day-by-day itinerary. Use AI to draft a plan, then review the places, travel gaps and timing before deciding what to keep.
Backpack Troops is in invite-only early access. Sign in with an admitted account to use the app. AI actions show their credit cost before you start.
Start with the commitments, then fill the gaps
A flight arrival, hotel check-in or reserved activity is more useful than a long wish list when you start planning. Add your dates and destinations, then include the bookings and must-see places that shape the trip. Choose a pace that leaves room for meals, travel and unplanned stops.
- Open Plan a trip and enter your destinations and dates.
- Add bookings and the places you want to include. Review imported booking details first.
- Check the displayed credit cost and generate a draft.
- Review each day, edit activities and keep the plan that fits your trip.
Treat the draft as a starting point
A suggested itinerary is not a reservation. Check whether an attraction is open on the day you intend to visit, whether tickets need booking and whether the proposed transfer is realistic. An arrival day often needs fewer activities than a full day in the city.
Keep the fixed booking in place and move optional stops around it. For example, if your museum entry is at 14:00, choose lunch nearby rather than adding a distant attraction immediately beforehand. This is a planning example, not a live route recommendation.
One day or a longer trip
For a short visit, the first-day planner starts with one city, a must-see place and your preferred pace. For a longer journey, use the trip planner to work across destinations and dates. Your saved trip keeps the plan, bookings and group context together.
Common questions
Does Backpack Troops book flights or hotels?
No. It helps organise bookings you already have and plan around them. Make and verify reservations with the travel provider.
Does itinerary generation cost credits?
AI planning uses credits. The app shows your balance and the action cost before generation; review that amount for your particular trip.
