Plan / A BACKPACK TROOPS GUIDE

Turn saved travel links into places for your trip

Backpack Troops looks for identifiable places in supported public travel links and pasted notes, then helps you review and save the matches. It connects inspiration to a place you can put on a map and include in a trip.

Save the place, not just the post

A saved video may contain five cafes in three cities. Before adding them all to a day, identify which venue each suggestion refers to and where it is. Backpack Troops can work from public Instagram, YouTube and TikTok links, travel articles and your own notes. Review the returned matches before relying on them.

  1. Open Places or the ideas area of your trip.
  2. Paste the public links or notes you want to read.
  3. Review the processing results and confirm the correct places.
  4. Open the map or place details, then add suitable stops to your plan.

When a link cannot be read

Private, removed or inaccessible posts may not produce usable places. A clip without a clear place name may return no match. Paste a descriptive caption or add the place yourself using its Google Maps link rather than treating a guessed venue as confirmed.

Check the city and address when several businesses share a name. Available ratings, hours and contact details help with the decision, but can change. Confirm time-sensitive details with the venue.

Make a smaller, better shortlist

Keep one list of must-dos and leave other ideas as options. Group nearby places before scheduling a day. A restaurant across town may be worth saving for another day instead of making every stop on your list compulsory.

Common questions

Can Backpack Troops import every social post?

No. Access, readable content and identifiable place names determine what can be extracted. Some imports return fewer places than expected or none.

Does saving a place reserve it?

No. Saving a place is for planning. Book tables, accommodation and timed entry directly with the relevant provider.
