Plan a group trip and share the agreed itinerary
Backpack Troops lets you invite people to a trip and keep an agreed itinerary together. For someone who only needs the plan, create a view-only itinerary link from selected days instead of giving them access to the whole trip.
Backpack Troops is in invite-only early access. Sign in with an admitted account to use the app. AI actions show their credit cost before you start.
Give the group one plan to discuss
Start with shared dates, destinations and fixed bookings. Ask each traveller for a small number of must-dos, then decide what belongs in the agreed itinerary. Keep optional ideas separate so one person’s wish list does not become everyone’s schedule.
Invite trip members through the trip’s people tools. Membership and permissions determine what someone can access or change. New users still need admission to invite-only early access; a shared itinerary view serves a different purpose.
Choose what a view link reveals
A view-only link is a snapshot of selected itinerary days. Preview it before sharing and choose whether dates and times should be shown. Links have an expiry and can be revoked.
Bookings, transport reservations, original documents, codes, comments, expenses, contact details and journal entries are excluded from this view. The selected itinerary title, places and schedule can still reveal travel plans, so only send the link to intended recipients.
After the plan changes
A snapshot is useful for telling someone what was agreed, but it is not the continuously updated trip workspace. Review the plan again after a major change and create a fresh view link if needed. Revoke an old link when it should no longer be used.
For shared costs, keep payer and participant records in the trip’s expense tools rather than asking everyone to reconstruct them after returning home.
Common questions
Is this a service for matching me with strangers to travel with?
No. Planning with your existing group is available in the app. The separate Travel Together experience for meeting like-minded travellers is marked coming soon.
Can someone with a view link edit my trip?
No. A view-only itinerary link is separate from trip membership and does not grant editing access.
